Overview of skills and skill gabs
Our role at Velux as a product introduction factory requires overview of skills and skill gabs – and that is the reason that we were interested in Champ.
Skill management and initiation of training programs

The achievement of skill objectives, skill management and training management are often the responsibilities of the department manager. To solve these tasks, the platform contains a role-based skill matrix. It shows employees in the department, their status in the relevant roles (job functions) and the gaps in the department in relation to skill objectives. Initiation and follow-up of role-based training programs are also integrated in the tool.
Support in role-based training programs

Once the manager has initiated job-training for an employee in a specific role, the employee and trainer get access to a training plan, training tasks and training material. Since training elements can be shared across roles, the platform manages whether the employee has already completed individual elements. Once the trainer and the employee indicate completion of training, the status is updated in the manager's skill matrix.
Follow-up on progress in training programs

The key to achieving the skill objectives - thus the necessary capacity and flexibility - is completion of the initiated job-training programs as planned. The platform therefore has a tool to help a manager’s planning and follow-up on training program. Here the start and end times of the training programs and progress since the last follow-up are presented.
Building flexibility across departments

In many situations, the necessary capacity in each department can be achieved by having flexibility across departments. The platform supports the structured job-training of employees so that they can perform minor roles in other departments. Managers can separately manage objectives for the number of "external employees" that must be able to perform selected job functions. In this situation, the platform also manages which training tasks need to be maintained so that "external employees" are ready to enter the job functions at any time.
